Frequently Asked Questions
The LGBTQI+ Perception Index (GBPI) is a 2–5 minute survey that asks LGBTQI+ adults to answer questions about their lived experiences in their countries. This survey was first launched in 2022 and again in 2024. The 2026 survey will be available from June 15 to September 15.
Based at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA, the F&M Global Barometers® conducts research on LGBTQI+ human rights. We partner with numerous LGBTQI+ organizations and dating apps like Grindr4Equality. You can learn more about us and what we do here.
Yes. Responses are completely anonymous and confidential. This survey, which has been reviewed and approved by the Franklin & Marshall College Institutional Review Board (IRB), conforms with the highest EU standards. Questions concerning your rights as a participant in this research may be addressed to Franklin & Marshall College’s IRB Chair at irb@fandm.edu.
We want to make sure LGBTQI+ voices continue to be shared. There is often a gap between legislation and the lived experiences of LGBTQI+ individuals, and stories from the survey show that situations for LGBTQI+ people are getting worse worldwide. Tracking survey responses every two years allows us to see where this is happening.
We want to hear from LGBTQI+ people themselves! The survey allows you to share your unique perspective and experience, and your input will help researchers and policymakers take action to improve the lives of LGBTQI+ people worldwide.
The results of the survey will be published in late 2026. The results will be published on this website, fandmglobalbarometers.org.
For questions, comments, or concerns, you can email gbgr@fandm.edu. You can view the results from the 2024 survey here.
